Zach Seligman | Artisan Blacksmith
Artist Statement
I work primarily with steel, iron and copper to evoke grit, rawness and purpose to provoke the viewer to assess their own ingenuity and potential. The intention is that if the humanity can be seen in the work: hammer marks, imperfections, process—then the viewer can imagine themselves, no different than the maker—ranging, contributing, transforming. I explore this endeavor through lenses of landscape, wildlife, earth process and post-industrial forms, as well as agrarian and culinary tools.
